I'm a nature lover and a keen gardener and when I encountered this beautiful quote while surfing on the internet, I immediately knew I wanted to do something with it! When I make an illustration like this, in my sketchbook, I always start drawing a few small details in pencil, tracing the outlines with my fineliner and filling in the background, all with the same fine pigment liner. I never have a plan set out in advance, so I just draw and make it up as I go, and each decision I make creates a kind of set of rules to follow.

Dear Joke, Instagram has led me to your beguiling blog, which I am reading through with pleasure from the other side of the world (Tasmania). I note that you are a keen gardener, while I am not, though I do like being in gardens. So I would say that I do not cultivate my garden but nonetheless it cultivates me, as I am always better for spending time in it. Thank you for sharing your ideas and work. Hi Robyn, so nice to have some reaction from the other side of the world! How I wish I would live there instead of this rainy cold country which is Belgium. I was born on the wrong side of the globe :) But the positive point is that we have nice gardens because of the rain, a small comfort! Have a nice day, here in Bruges it is 10 o'clock in the morning,
