In de mooie maand mei maakte ik een nieuwe serie van vlinders en kevertjes voor verkoop. Ik probeer hier elke dag eentje posten. Alles is met de hand geschilderd en/of geschreven. Prijzen zijn exclusief verzending. Je mag me altijd contacteren als je vragen hebt, bijvoorbeeld wat betreft de verzendingskosten. Afhalen kan natuurlijk ook, na afspraak. Deze voorwerpen waren gedurende vele jaren het borduurmateriaal waar ik dagelijks mee werkte: meer dan de moeite waard dus om ze te vereeuwigen in mijn schetsboek. Dit was een van de eerste tekeningen waarbij ik een fijne zwarte stift gebruikte. De ontdekking dat je met een stiftje even goed kan tekenen als met een potlood was voor mij heel belangrijk want sedertdien zijn ze onmisbaar geworden op mijn tekentafel!
These items have been my daily embroidery material for over many many years: worthwhile to commemorate them in my sketchbook. This was one of the first drawings where I used a black fineliner. An important discovery for me. Since then, my black fineliners have become indispensable on my drawing board!

Japanse wijnbessen (Rubus phoenicolasius), zwarte bessen (Ribes nigrum) en bosbessen (Vaccinium): de jaarlijkse vruchtenpluk is alweer een tijdje geleden begonnen. Dit jaar is de opbrengst van de Japanse wijnbessen enorm. De diepvries kan weer gevuld worden met kilo's perfecte rode vruchtjes. In september volgen dan nog als laatste de mini-kiwi's.

This year the yield of the Japanese wineberries is huge. The freezer can be filled with kilos of perfect red fruits. In September, finally, will follow the mini kiwis.

Het voorbije weekend organiseerde Natuurpunt weerom een vlindertelling. Ik werkte een ganse namiddag in de tuin en zag niet één vlinder. De dag daarop zag ik er toch één: de dagpauwoog. Nog nooit zaten er zo weinig vlinders in onze tuin, waar nochtans nogal wat vlinderplanten staan: Grote kattenstaart (Lythrum salicaria), klimop (Hedera helix), lavendel (Lavendula angustifolia), marjolein (Origanum), munt (Mentha), vlinderstruik (Buddleia) en vlambloem (Phlox).
Last weekend, a Belgian organisation once again organized a butterfly counting. I spent a whole afternoon working in our garden and did not see a single butterfly. The next day I saw one: the Peacock butterfly. Never before were there so few butterflies in our garden, although there are a lot of butterfly plants: Purple Loosestrife, Ivy, Lavender, Marjoram, Mint, Butterfly bush and Phlox.
